Wingham Eventing Club - February Clinic

Unfortunately the ODE planned for 27th – 28th February had to be postponed due to a number of factors. The ODE is rescheduled for April. Our sincere apologies to any competitors and supporters that were inconvenienced by the postponement.

Some keen riders used the opportunity of a free weekend to school over the well-prepared cross country course. On Saturday Belinda coached riders who, in the main, were polishing their jumping skills for Scone ODE to be held in a fortnight. We also welcomed Tara Sheridan, who has recently moved to NSW from Queensland, to one of our clinics for the first time. Tara brought 3 horses - her 2** and 1* horses and a promising youngster who did very well.

Regular clinic participants Jo, Nicky and Marnie, were doing some serious training towards a class upgrade during the year.

Don’t forget our next ODE will be held 17th – 18th April. If you would like to have a preview of the course, contact Belinda to book some cross country coaching.

Wingham Eventing Club Summer Camp 2010

Wingham Eventing Club held their annual summer camp from the 8th-10th January this year. The clinic was well-attended with participants again travelling some distance to attend, from areas such as Sydney, Bellingen, the Central Coast and even Quirindi in the west. Although quite warm, it certainly wasn't anywhere near as hot as the heatwave conditions we experienced at the camp last year. Fortunately too, the recent rain left Bellview Park looking lush after the dry period we had leading up to Christmas and it also filled the water jump, so pumping was unnecessary. The instructors made good use of the entire cross country course, with all four grades from Newcomers through to One Star being incorporated in training sessions.

The clinic was this time conducted in its entirety at Bellview Park, whereas previously some sessions have been held at Wingham Showground. With the camp being centralised, participants and their friends were able to stay in one place and not have to worry about the inconvenience of moving from one venue to the next. It also helped to ensure that the social side of the clinic was also very successful and there was lots of friendly conversation, tall stories and more than one late night.

The Senior winner of the Cross Country Equitation was Lyndel Taylor, who travelled from the Central Coast, and the winner of the Junior section was Grace McCarthy from the Forster region.

We are planning another clinic for April and details will be available on this website.
