Congratulations to all winners and place getters for our third ODE held last weekend, 17th-18th April. Postponed from the end of February because of wet conditions, the wet weather held off this time except for some showers Friday evening and Saturday. It was fine for cross-country day, which ran to time with no falls of horse or riders, so our Vet and Ambulance personnel were able to have a very relaxing weekend.
Thank you to our TD, John Lechner, and to everyone who assisted at helping us to get through the huge amount of work that goes into preparing for and running a One Day Event. Apart from setting up and running the dressage and show jumping, preparing the cross country course is a very time consuming job in itself (even without building the jumps). The course needs to be slashed and mown and each jump needs to be whipper snipped, flagged and numbered. Thanks to all of you who helped us on cross country day. Once again, Ron Porter did a great job building lovely showjumping courses for all classes.
Thank you also to our dressage judges - Carolyn Murphy, Kate Collins and Ross Green and their pencillers.
Although entries were a little lower than expected due to a very full Eventing calendar throughout the state at this time of the year, all involved with the event seemed to have an enjoyable time and certainly the feedback that we received from the competitors was all very positive. We’re already planning the next event!
